BENA MASSAD

Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Bena Massad, of Kilgore will be held 11:00 a.m, Monday October 11, 2008 at Christ the Catholic Church with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler. The Rosary will be held Sunday October 10, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.

Bena Massad, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and cherished friend, passed away on October 10, 2008. Bena had been a Kilgore resident for over 60 years. She was born Bena Korkmas on August 6, 1921 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Joseph H. and Nazha Korkmas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kelly Massad, to whom she was joyfully married for 34 years and who she has terribly missed for the past 32 years. Finally, now, they are together again. Bena and Kelly were successful merchants owning and operating children's and ladies' ready-to-wear stores in Kilgore and Longview for three decades.

Bena was a faithful child of God being an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Kilgore. She was also a member of the Senior Classics and Epsilon Sigma Alpha philanthropic sorority. She was dearly loved by each and every person who had the privilege of knowing her. A ready smile, a kind word, a loving touch—this was Bena.

Besides her beloved husband, Bena was preceded in death by her infant son, Gregory Paul and a sister, Isabel Joseph. Mourning her loss are: daughter, Donna Naifeh and her husband, Dr. Jerome Naifeh of Dallas; son Kelly M. Massad and his wife Laurene of Plano; daughter, Shelley Dill and her husband, G. Michael Dill of Tulsa, Ok.; son John Michael Massad of Lufkin; and son, Ralph A. Massad of Kilgore. Bena also cherished her grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew and Gregory Naifeh (Donna and Jerry); Kelly, Raymond and Christina (Kelly and Laurene); and Anne Marie and Mary (Shelley and Mike). Bena also leaves behind loving sisters and brothers: Aileen Massad, Katy Nassif; Dr. Fred Korkmas and Dr. Maurice Korkmas. She is also mourned by cherished sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and close friends all of whom were dear to her heart.

The heavens opened and God allowed the angels to increase their number by one.
