Suspect arrested for aggravated robbery against Mark Dickey
CHASE JEFFERY A Kilgore man remains in custody at the Gregg County Jail this morning following his arrest for the aggravated robbery of Mark Dickey at his Stone Road residence.
Sheriff 's investigators, Kilgore Police and Gregg County District Attorney's Office investigators arrested Chase Bernard Jeffery, 18, of Kilgore, late yesterday afternoon at his residence on Stone Road.
"Information was developed late Wednesday night from witnesses which enabled investigators to identify and charge by criminal complaint Jeffery with aggravated robbery," GCSO Lt. Mike Claxton released this morning.
According to Claxton, Jeffery entered into the Dickey residence early Tuesday morning with a handgun and was confronted by the homeowner, a Kilgore ISD trustee. After a struggle, Jeffery fired a shot from a handgun and fled the residence.
"This was a violent and frightening case that affected the homeowner and his family," Claxton said. "We wanted to identify and locate this man before he had an opportunity to commit another robbery and place other citizens in danger."
Claxton said Jeffery was arrested in a rented duplex less than a mile from the Dickey home. Jeffery attended an arraignment hearing this morning in the County Court at Law II Courtroom of Judge Alfonso Charles. Bond was set at $100,000.
"The arrest of Jeffery certainly reduces his potential to continue with other attempts at violent crime," Maxey Cerliano, Gregg County sheriff, said.
