The Kilgore Independent School District board of trustees honored Kilgore Intermediate School students for their commended performance on the 2007/2008 TAKS test. Students were recognized for their fourth grade scores in reading, mathematics and writing. Among the honorees were, in no particular order, Thomas Billingsley, Sydni Borders, Jose Chico, Cassidy Daniel, Cynthia Garrett, Logan Gibson, Keithlyn Henry, Jeridiah Lewis, Luke McKellar, Austin Miller, Kyleigh Motes, Korie O'Quinn, Natalie O'Quinn, Grant Payne, Julie Rawls, Olivia Ricks, Clinton Rounsavall, Garrett Shipman, Benjamin Simpson, Rusty Taylor, Draylon Wheat, Austin Word and Kyler Yancey. Some students were not in attendance. More ... The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Maude Laird Middle School Oct. 14-17 . Diane Wimberly, MLMS librarian, said an open house will be held Monday, Oct. 13, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and members of the community are invited. The book fair will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Proceeds from the book fair will be used to purchase new books for the library. More ... The Kilgore College Choirs will present a fall semester concert titled "A Lighthearted Look at Lif " on Thursday, Oct. 16, at KC's Van Cliburn Auditorium. More ... Sixteen freshman recipients of Kilgore College Presidential Scholarships were honored at a banquet in the Devall Student Center Ballroom on the KC campus Sept. 29. The presidential scholarship, KC's most prestigious academic scholarship, covers students' tuition, fees and books.
