SCHARLENE BILLINGS

Services for Scharlene Billings, 90, of Kilgore will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at the Chandler Street Church of Christ with Chris Vidacovich officiating. Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery, Tyler, Texas. Mrs. Billings died Monday, October 6, 2008, in Kilgore, Texas.

She was born June 27, 1918, in Wingate, Texas, to Robert and Tennie Allen. Mrs. Billings married Walter Lee Billings Jr. and lived the life of many an oilfield worker's wife living in Arco camps all over West Texas including Seminole, Midland, and finally settling into Kilgore, Texas, in 1991. A member of the "Greatest Generation", Mrs. Billings lived on the East Coast during World War II, working to support the Troops while waiting on husband W.L. to return from duty in Europe. She was a member of the Chandler Street Church of Christ. Mrs. Billings was a homemaker and enjoyed archeology, especially Native American artifacts.

Mrs. Billings is survived by her son-in-law, Tommy Konczak of Kilgore; daughter-inlaw Mary Ellen Davis of Seminole; grandsons, J.T. Konczak and his wife Angie of Kilgore, Sam Billings and wife Laurie of Tyler, Bobby Billings of Lewisville; greatgrandchildren, Tucker and Ryder Konczak of Kilgore, Jake, Sara, and Anna-Grace Billings of Tyler; Special Friend and Caregiver, Ginger Becker of Kilgore.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Robert and Tennie Allen; husband, Walter Lee Billings, Jr.; daughter, Jerry Lynn Konczak, son, Walter Lee Billings, III.; and a sister.
