      The Kilgore High School head football coach was at Lions Club on Thursday talking about the season and beyond. Mike Vallery said this is not the best team Kilgore has put on the field in the past, but it is a good team. "We can't go out this year and beat people when we play bad," said Vallery. "We are going to have to play good to win.

      WASHINGTON (AP) _ Democracy and human rights are likely to take a back seat as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice seeks to improve ties with Kazakhstan, an energy-rich former Soviet republic whose importance has been emphasized by Russia's invasion of Georgia.
