KC RAHS CHEERLEADING CAMP
     The Kilgore College Rahs put on a cheerleading camp this weekend to raise money for nationals. The cheerleaders are Taylor Wilkens, Sarah Lebus, Andrea Fox, Lauren Young, Jordan Belrose, Krista Morton, Ashley Stanley, Brittany Colvin, Brittany Colvin, Courtney Pool, Frankie Benavidez, Sunny Fasang, Kevin Coxwell, Herbert Griffin, De- Marcus Johnson, Moises Rodrigues, Kody Vonesh, Justin Smith, LeMar Williams, Nate Bradley and Brandon Gardner. The Rahs are under the direction of Latane Speer.

      "FORGET the raindrops, she's got squirrels falling on her head and she is in a frantic," exclaimed the voice at the end of the phone. "I'm heading over there right now," he said.       A reader of an ABC News website story is irked about the word "well." The story, titled "Sick Kids: Keep Them Home? Or Are They Faking?" prompted the following comment on the website. "And why don't schools teach them that the proper grammar is to say th ey don't 'feel well' anymore?

Local Chapter of Colonial Dames receives proclamation from Mayor
      The New England Colony Chapter of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century met at the Meadowbrook Country Club with President Othodell Smith calling the meeting to order. The visiting state chaplain, Elizabeth Grambling, opened with prayer.

The Hogues celebrate 50 years together
      George and Libby Hogue celebrated their 50 wedding anniversary with a Rock & Roll party July 26, 2008 in Kilgore. The party was given by their three children: Beth Clanahan, Greg Hogue, and Brad Hogue. Johnny and Sue Clements provided the perfect setting in the country at their party barn.

Kilgore Seniors gear up for Garage and Bake Sale
      The Kilgore Senior Citizens met Sept. 24, in the Lions building at 307 Rusk Street. President Betty Roebuck called the meeting to order at 11:30. Ray Drost led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Harvey Rollins led the prayer. Joyce Riddles read a story titled, "Somebody's Raising Their Kid Right." It was based on II Corinthians 5:7, "For we walk by faith not by sight.

      Goldie Mae Taylor celebrated her 102 birthday with her family and friends on Sept. 28 with her family and friends at Kilgore Manor. Taylor's only daughter, Parthina Jones Polk and four of the grandchildren, Teresa J. Roberson, Eva J. Harkless, Mardine Sears, and Frankie Smith were present for the celebration.

      Sole' Alejandra Hunt turned one and celebrated with a Disney Princess birthday party Sept. 27, 2008. She was born Sept. 25, 2007. Her parents are Daisy Pinales of Kilgore and Weldon Hunt of Orlando FL. Sole' is the grandaughter of Moraima Garrison of San Antonio, Willie Calvin adn Alice Hunt of Kilgore; great-grandparents are Mayelo and Estela Suarez of Eagle Pass, R.T.
