Family forced from home when fire breaks out

Kilgore firefighters check for hot spots and clear debris at fire scene on Dudley Rd. Kilgore firefighters check for hot spots and clear debris at fire scene on Dudley Rd. A family was forced to flee their burning home when a fire broke out this morning on at a residence at 3102 Dudley Rd.

Kilgore Fire Dept. station 2 responded along with Champion EMS and KIlgore Rescue, but fortunately Felicia Ramirez and her Goddaughter escaped without injury.

Ramirez said her husband was at work and her children were in school when the blaze broke out.

Chief Ronnie Moore, fire chief for the City of Kilgore said it looked like the fire broke out around the area of the kitchen, but the fire was still under investigation by Kilgore Fire Marshal Mark Frederick's.

The fire broke out around 9 a.m. and the fire department was still on the scene checking for hot spots at 10:30 a.m. this morning.

Ramirez said she would be staying with friends, she was concerned about her medication she lost in the fire, Ramirez suffers from seizures.

The home had extensive damage.
