JUNIOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL
By MARK KRUG Special to the News Herald

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Due to Kilgore College's 20-17 triple-overtime victory over last week's No. 1 Blinn College , this week's NJCAA / JC Football.com Top 20 has a new team in the No. 1 post.

The Navarro College Bulldogs, with a 4-0 overall record, move into the top spot with 139 total poll points and six of seven first place votes. Navarro is followed by Snow College ( Utah) at No. 2, Jones County Junior College (Miss.) at No. 3, Butler Community College (Kan.) at No. 4 and Georgia Military College at No. 5.

Blinn falls seven spots to No. 8 this week behind No. 6 Iowa Central Community College and No. 7 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Navarro scored 24 points in the second quarter against Tyler Junior College, which erased a 14-point deficit, to take home a 44- 34 victory. William Powell rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns, while Milton Howell rushed for 114 yards.

The Bulldogs currently rank sixth in the country in rushing, averaging 237.5 yards per game on the ground.

Rounding out the top 10 are Fort Scott, who defeated KC in the season opener, and Pearl River, a Mississippi school.

KC (2-2) is unranked, and plays at Arkansas Baptist on Saturday, a 3 p.m. kickoff. See a preview of the game in today's Game Time Weekly, the special section inside.
