Cayuga challenge Don't tell Overton High School head football coach about his opponent this weekend, Cayuga. He already knows. He knows they're state-ranked. He knows about speedy tailback Traylon Shead. And when the Mustangs (3-2 overall, 1-0 in District 20-1A) line up to take the field Friday night at Cayuga, he'll have to hope his team, winners of three straight, can tackle well. "They're really, really good," said Robinson, in his first year as head coach and athletic director for the Mustangs. "They're a spread team, but they've got a running back Shead) they like to feed it to. He's got over 1,000 yards already. "They're freakishly good, not one weak spot on the team that see. It's going to be a real challenge." Cayuga may be state-ranked in 1A, but they can be defeated. That happened two weeks ago, a 39-14 loss to Kerens. But there's no question, Cayuga can put up points. They opened the season with a 48- 20 win over Frankston, shut out 43-20, lost to Kerens and then last week, opened district play with a 54-21 win over Carlisle. The Mustangs definitely know how to find the end zone. In last week's 26-6 win over Cushing, Mustangs quarterback Telvin Darden rushed for 152 yards and a score (on just 10 carries), then passed for 68 yards and another score. His target for the touchdown was Jacoba Gardner, and it was a 35-yard pass play. Gardner, who had a 98-yard touchdown run the week before against Union Hill, rushed for 109 yards on 20 carries in this game. Joining him in the trenches was fullback John Michael Florey, who gained 79 yards on six carries and scored twice. He also caught two passes for 17 yards. And one of those touchdowns? A 50-yard run, by a fullback. Overton finished with 452 yards of total offense. They've scored 61 points the last two games, and have outscored their opponents 87-26 in the last three games. Defensively against Cushing, the Mustangs got a pair of interceptions from defensive end Garrett Williamson and from safety Austin McCasland.
