KILGOROUND

LESTER MURRAY

contest that began Oct. 1 will focus Kilgore students on the coming "Christmas in the Patch" celebration.

The contest is between students in the English classes at Kilgore High School, Maude Laird Middle School and Kilgore Intermediate School.

"'Tis the Season" is the topic of the contest and the theme of this year's program. Students may write about holly, church, shopping decorating, carols or anything else that most clearly defines the season for the student entrants.

Three winners — one from each campus — will have the honor of throwing the ceremonial switch that lights the derricks for the annual Christmas in the Patch program in November. They will also receive a gold Christmas ornament and a special tee shirt.

"'Tis the Season" will be presented on the Winter Elder Stage at the World's

Richest Acre Park under the sponsorship of Kilgore Historical Preservation Foundation.

The regular registration deadline has passed, but participants can register late until the day of the clinic.

Cost is $35 per camper until Sept. 26, and includes a T-shirt, tuition and pizza lunch. Campers should wear T-shirts, shorts, whitesoled aerobic tennis shoes and bring water jugs.

Late applications will be accepted at registration on a space available basis at $45 per person. Late registration and check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. the day of the clinic.
