Kilgore house fire last night

Kilgore firefighters extinguished a house fire last night at 1216 Myrtle St.

Brandon Bigos, assistant fire marshal for the City of Kilgore, said Station 1 and Station 2 received the call at 8:20 p.m. and when units arrived there was a fire in the rear of the residence.

Bigos said the fire, which is still under investigation, started in a carport area at the rear of the residence and spread to the attic and rear bedroom of the home.

The residence was occupied by Kirk Logston, who was home at the time of the fire but was not injured. No one was injured by the blaze, according to Bigos.

The Kilgore Police Department and Kilgore Rescue Unit also responded to the fire. Bigos said the scene was cleared at 11:45 p.m.
