Representative Merritt talks to Lions about Sept. 11

      Kilgore Lions Club met on Thursday to remember those who lost their lives in the attack on this country on Sept. 11 seven years ago . After a moment of silence, Lion Tom King introduced members of the Kilgore Police Department and Kilgore Fire Department who were on hand for the event.

Rusk County investigator talks football at Rotary Club

      William Brown, an investigator with the Rusk County District Attorney's office and a longtime high school football official, was the guest speaker for Kilgore Rotary Club on Wednesday. Brown went over all of the rule changes that have occurred in high school football this year and told stories about his long years of officiating games.

MOBILE DENTIST COMES TO MLMS
     Over 60 students are taking advantage of the Mobile Dentist Program that is visiting Kilgore Schools. Maude Laird Middle School was the first to get the visit from Dr. Michael Beard from Jacksonville. Dr. Beard who is retired, says the service offers exams, teeth cleaning, x-rays and sealants. All of the students who applied for the service could not be seen on Friday, so a second trip will have to be scheduled. The program is also scheduled for Kilgore Intermediate School and Kilgore High School. Russians withdraw from western Georgia

      TBILISI, Georgia (AP) - Russian forces withdrew from several positions in western Georgia on Saturday, and a Georgian official said Russia met a deadline for a partial pullout a month after the war between the former Soviet republics.

Will Iraq squander the gains of the surge
