Sabine upsets Troup!
First win at SHS for Baker
By JASON HEFFNER Special to the News Herald
LIBERTY CITY — The Troup Tigers had the ball on the Sabine 10-yard-line, trailing by just one point, with just seven seconds to play. Then, the Cardinals' Taylor Gray jumped into the air and intercepted a Ryan Nichols pass in the end zone as time expired to preserve a hard-fought 13-12 victory for Sabine.

Same old 'Cats, same old 'Dogs
KHS gets convincing win over Hallsville
By MITCH LUCAS sports@kilgorenewsherald.com
HALLSVILLE — Sometimes football just comes down to the basics, and while it isn't necessarily pretty, a win is a win is a win. That was evident here Friday night, as the Kilgore High School Bulldogs overcame a bit of an off-night in the passing game and a few turnovers to get a convincing win over former district rival Hallsville, 23-10.

Another big win for the Bulldogs, who are getting better
WHAT'S CAUSING ALL THIS?

From T.O. to Romo to Jerry Jones to Jessica Simpson to Pac- Man (sorry, make that Adam), the Cowboys can dazzle on the red carpet or in the red zone.

Union Grove slips by Overton in OT
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
By JOE M. JONES Special to the News Herald
GLADEWATER — It took the second quarter for Overton to reduce a 14-point deficit behind Union Grove and a hard drive in the Third Quarter to balance the scales. But there was no balancing a 20-14 overtime defeat for the Mustangs, who fell to 0- 2, but could very easily be 2-0.

Unbeaten Lions manhandle JC, 66-0
By EDWIN FINDLEY Special to the News Herald
LAIRD HILL — It only took the Leverett's Chapel Lions one half to defeated the Joshua Christian Knights, 66-0. In six men football there, is a mercy rule that if by half either team is leading by 45 the game is finished.

By WILLIAM TEMPLEMAN Special to the News Herald
TYLER — Turns out T.K. Gorman's Crusaders put up a little fight. But it wasn't enough. West Rusk High School left McCallum Stadium Friday night with a hard-fought 29-23 win, moving their record to 2-0 in the second season under coach John Frazier.
