Reese Nichols gives retirement advice to Kilgore Seniors

The Kilgore Senior Citizens met Wednesday, August 27, in the Lions building at 307 Rusk Street. President Betty Roebuck called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Red Fleming, and Juanita Riley led the opening prayer.

The program was given by Reece Nichols, on behalf of Edward Jones & Co. He was assisted by Ms. Monika Powell and Ms. Nita Woodcock. Introductory gifts were won by Jo Poteet, Francis Lenning, and Betty Warlick. Many choices of retirement were given and explained, and ended in a question-and-answer period. They gave a very informative program.

We had five visitors with us: Sue Jackson, Ina Spencer, and the three from Edward Jones. They joined thirty-seven seniors to make forty-two to enjoy delicious covered-dish luncheon.

President Betty read a note from Kalli Rhodes, thanking us for the monetary donation to help her further her music career. She also welcomed back Cetrue Linaham, who has been ill. The secretary's report was read and approved. The treasurer's report was also approved as read. President Betty read the report of the Sunshine Lady, who was absent. A get-well card was sent to Lois Rogers. The Garage Sale discussion was tabled until next meeting. Jo Poteet and Don Hale won the door prizes. Ray Drost read an article titled, "Devil."

The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 10. President Betty closed our meeting with prayer at 12:50.
