Cargill and Ford unite in marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Cargill (nee. Holly Ann Ford) Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Cargill (nee. Holly Ann Ford) Holly Ann Ford and Marcus Wayne Cargill, both of Kilgore, were united in marriage Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Saint Luke's United Methodist Church in Kilgore.

Officiating the double-ring, candle lit ceremony was The Reverend Ernie Turney and Mr. Jared Allen, brother-in-law of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Rodney Bell and Patty Ford of Kilgore, and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ford of Henderson. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McClatchey, Jr. of Marshall and Mr. and Mrs. David Ford of Karnack.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Cargill of Kilgore. He is the grandson of Mrs. Frances Grayson of Trinidad and the late Woodrow Grayson, and Dr. and Mrs. Howard W. Cargill of Bryan.

Music played at the ceremony included Steve Angrisano's "Hand in Hand", featuring organist Dr. William Holda and soloist Bobi Ann Allen, sister of the groom. White and jade roses decorated the pews and the altar while tea lights were lit at the base of each stained glass window.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white chiffon over satin A-line dress with a sweep train. The gathered, strapless bodice featured a beaded lace empire waist. Her gown was accented by a cathedral veil trimmed with rhinestones. She wore her sister's pearl necklace. Keeping with tradition, she carried the handkerchief that her sister carried in her wedding, which was originally both of their baptismal bonnets. She also carried a bouquet of white roses and green hydrangeas.

Matron of honor was Jessica Mercer, sister of the bride, of Kilgore. Bridesmaids were Lauren Johnson, cousin of the bride, of College Station, Heather Haralson of Dallas, Kasie Barnhart of Kilgore, Jessica Kee of Austin and Amy Ott of Dallas. They all wore knee-length, lightweight silk taffeta dresses in kelly green. The strapless dresses had a fitted bodice and a full skirt with allover box pleats.

Mary Bess Mercer, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. She carried a silver basket filled with white and jade rose petals. She was outfitted in a white, sleeveless organza dress with a beaded satin sash featuring a large bow in the back.

John Cargill, cousin of the groom, of Galveston, was best man. Groomsmen were David Cargill, cousin of the groom, of Houston, Jared Hargrave of Kilgore, Bryan Barnhart of Kilgore, Collin Clower of Tyler and Josh Edmonson of Kilgore.

Ushers were Matt Cargill, cousin of the groom, of Bryan, Howard Davison, cousin of the groom, of Bryan, Richard Davison, cousin of the groom, of Bryan and James Mercer, brother-in-law of the bride, of Kilgore.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts. An easel holding the bridal portrait was at the entrance of the museum. Centered in the main gallery, was the four-tiered white bridal cake with kelly green ribbon adorned with white and jade roses. The groom's table featured a large square chocolate cake decorated with the Texas A&M seal. The tables were laid in black cloths and centered with tall vases filled with white and jade roses.

In the Premier Gallery, the buffet table featured a large arrangement of white and jade roses.

The guests enjoyed the art exhibits and entertainment provided by the Take 2 Band from Tyler.

Wedding poppers were set off by guests as the bride and groom were leaving.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of Kilgore High School and a 2007 graduate of Texas A&M University. She is employed by Mumford Independent School District as an elementary teacher.

The groom is a 2002 Kilgore High School graduate and a 2007 graduate of Texas A&M University and is employed by Bell Supply as a sales representative.

The newlyweds, after returning from a honeymoon in the Mayan Riviera, will reside in Bryan.

Holly and Marcus were honored at several parties before their marriage. Friends of the couple hosted a couples shower at Leon's in Longview. Bridal showers were hosted at the Roseville Plantation in Marshall, the First Baptist Church in Kilgore, her Aunt's home in Longview, and the Anderson's home in Kilgore. The bride was feted with a bachelorette party in College Station, and the groom was treated to a funfilled weekend with his friends in Galveston. The bride, her attendants and family members were treated with a luncheon at Johnny Carino's in Longview.

On the evening preceding the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted at the Sacred Spur Ranch by Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Cargill. A slide show featuring the bride and groom was shown followed by toasts of family and friends. Members of the wedding party were recognized with gifts. A band completed the evening with entertainment.
