Maude Laird Middle School students have been given permission slips for a free dental exam, complete with cleaning, and xray, at a mobile dental office pulling in at the school next Friday, Sept. 12. Parents interested in taking advantage of this opportunity should return the signed permission slip to MLMS by Thursday.

Paula Martin Jones Charities has announced the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Margaret G. Martin Center, future home of East Texas

Child Advocates, Inc., 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the corner of South High Street and Garfield Drive, in Longview. Margaret Martin is a long time resident of Kilgore, who along with her late husband R.S. Martin, started Martin Worldwide Gas, headquartered here.

I called over to the White Elephant Bazaar Tuesday afternoon to wish Bonnie Kay a happy 100th birthday and wouldn't you know she was there — busy as a bee — working for Kilgore Improvement Beautification Association.

Members of KIBA, family and friends are throwing Ms. Kay a birthday bash 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, at the parlor in First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
