a win at Union Grove Ty Robinson didn't win his coaching debut with Overton High School last week against Ore City, but he might have, he said, if not for a few things. "We're not into moral victories around here," Robinson said Wednesday. "We just made way too many mistakes. You can't turn it over four times and expect to win. You can't have the breakdowns that we had in the kicking game and expect to win. I made some mistakes, too. Hopefully we can correct those this week." Overton dropped the home game to Ore City, 22-19, and this week, the Mustangs visit Union Grove, a team that went just 1-9 last year, but could give Overton a challenge, Robinson cautioned. "They are extremely wellcoached," he said. "They're tough and physical, and they'll be prepared for us." Union Grove beat Beckville, 35- 7, on Friday night. UG is a Class 2A school coached by Marty Moore, and lost only four seinors. The Lions bring back a strong 1- 2-3 punch on offense: quarterback Dalton Melton, running back Josh Carnes and running back Richard Pittman each rushed for more than 400 yards last year, and Carnes and Pittman both went over the 500- yard mark. Barnes had four interceptions as a cornerback on defense, and another defensive back, Corey Adkinson, had 76 tackles. Things began well for Overton last week, with Garrett Williamson recovering an Ore City fumble on the first OC offensive play of the game, but maybe the tone was set when Telvin Darden, Overton's quarterback, had a 46-yard touchdown play called back on a blocking penalty on the next play. Darden scored on a 6-yard run in the third quarter, but Overton couldn't get the attempted twopoint conversion. They led 19-14. But Ore City got the last laugh. Following a big punt return by Shemall McCain to Overton's 30, OC quarterback Brandon Rodgers scored on a 10-yard run, then got the conversion with a pass to Buddy Shaun Nicholson. With under two minutes left, Overton wasn't able to get either the go-ahead touchdown or a game-tying field goal, and lost the
