KHS varsity, JV lose; freshmen win
      While Marshall High School is no longer a district opponent, there's still a good rivalry there, and that rivalry extends to the volleyball court, too. Kilgore High School's volleyball teams each played the Lady Mavs on Tuesday, the first game of the season at the KHS gymnasium.

Sabine sweeps Overton
      After starting off the season with a few losses, the Sabine High School Lady Cardinals volleyball team is on a roll. Sabine finished third in a tournament at Gladewater on Saturday, and last night, the Lady Cards swept Overton, 25- 15, 25-15, 25-15.

Jones and Johnson seeking redemption with Dallas
      IRVING (AP) — Adam "Pacman" Jones and Tank Johnson settled in for a new season in the Dallas Cowboys' locker room Monday. Freshly displayed above the locker where Jones reclined into a pile of clothes were several pictures of his 2-year-old daughter.

Rangers outlast Seattle, 6-4
      ARLINGTON (AP) — Brandon McCarthy gave the Texas Rangers what they hope is a preview for 2009. McCarthy pitched six strong innings for his first win in more than 13 months, Josh Hamilton drove in three runs and the Rangers beat the Seattle Mariners 6-4 on Tuesday night.
