Sabine sweeps Overton

After starting off the season with a few losses, the Sabine High School Lady Cardinals volleyball team is on a roll.

Sabine finished third in a tournament at Gladewater on Saturday, and last night, the Lady Cards swept Overton, 25- 15, 25-15, 25-15. Sabine is now 8-7 on the season.

Coach Rickey Hammontree's team visits Pittsburg, the school where he coached last year, on Friday for a varsity-only match at 4:30 p.m.

Against Overton, Alex Easley had five kills, 11 assists and three aces. Shayla Gossett had five kills and a block. Cortnee Ryan had another good game — she had 12 kills and three blocks.

Lindsey Bryce had five kills and three aces; Krystal Kent had six digs; Cassie Headley had nine assists; Brittany Stuart had four kills; and Carra Smitherman had five kills.
