      OVERTON — Teray Smith scored two touchdowns and Telvin Darden ran in six points Friday, but the Overton High School Mustangs lost to Ore City's Rebels, 22-19. The loss spoiled new coach Ty Robinson's regular-season football debut at Overton, but he vowed the Mustangs will improve and make the playoffs this year.

      REDWATER — The Sabine Cardinals dropped their season opener to the Redwater Dragons, 34-12, on the road Friday night. In the first game under new head coach Jerry Baker, the Cardinals suffered through a sloppy first half, and then battled toe to toe with the Dragons in the second half, but it was too little too late for Sabine (0-1).
