St. Luke's announces new Reverend

The staff Parish Relations Committee of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Kilgore announces the appointment of Reverend Darwood K. Galaway effective September 1, 2008. Rev. Galaway comes to St. Luke's from Sunset United Methodist Church in Pasadena, Texas. During his seven year tenure at Sunset United Methodist Church, there has been remarkable growth in many areas.

Rev. Galaway had his wife, Lee, have four children and one grandchild. Lee is an elementary school teacher and loves teaching the four year olds. Their children, Jared is a UT graduate and is a manager of one of the Texas Attorney General's field offices. He has written software that is currently used throughout the state. Jennifer teaches school in Pasadena. Jeremy works for Oxy Chemical and hopes to become an operator soon. Joshua is serving the US Navy as a submariner. Currently he is stationed in Groton, Connecticut serving our nation proudly. Zachary, the grandson, is two years old and the joy of their life. Rev. Galaway has babysat Zachary on his day off every Friday during the school year since he was five months old.

Rev. Darwood Galaway's first day to preach will be Sunday, September 7, 2008. There will be one service beginning at 10 a.m. His sermon will be entitled, "My Favorite Sermon." Lunch will be served immediately after the service for the congregation in the Family Center. St. Luke's is forward to Rev. Galaway's ministry. He shares with his congregation, "One of the great challenges has been the large number of people whose health has failed over the years. Every member of my church will tell you that when they are in need, their pastor is there. Our Lord taught me a long time ago, that if you want to see miracles, go where people are sick." Come and help us welcome Rev. Galaway and Lee to our church and our community.
