Mother nature strikes
CHITCHAT CORNER
Ms. Gertie Lacy kept them enthralled at a family reunion held at the Community Inn last week. "We had 95 show up and they were all kin to me," she said. "I had to set them straight on some things and they had better find it out now," she said. "Because I'm 95 (years old) and I may not be here much longer…" Her family traveled from as far away as California, "some from the Rio Grande Valley, some from Austin and San Antonio and a whole slew of them from the Dallas area" to hear her talk. "Some things was confused," she said. "They thought my parents came to Texas in a covered wagon, when in fact they rode the train. "But oh, we had a good time," she said. St. Luke's Methodist church will be getting a new preacher. However, the computer ate the letter introducing him, so for now, that's all we know… Our Queen of Swing, Kelli Grant has whizzed back into town after making 1100 miles in 6 days. Things seem to be going great for her. She has been nominated again for the Will Rogers Award by the Academy of Western Artist and her new "Swings & Sings" CD is climbing the charts and receiving great reviews. She has developed a "recipe" that describes her music and it is positively delightful! But, that's Kelli. Keep on singing, Kelli! "Hmmm, lots of movement going on downtown," writes Ronnie Spradlin. Check this out - Katie at Kilgore Travel is moving across the street into the old jewelry shop, Julie Beck and two others moving into old Kilgore Travel building (antique shop and more), Justin at Provence is moving back into 205, Expressions moving into old Longhorn building, The Greenery is moving into the old Kwik Kopy building AND Big Dave's BBQ is moving…into the old Vinery building.
