Rangerettes Looking Good
     Despite the heat, the Kilgore College Rangerettes have taken to R.E. St. Johns Stadium in preparation for KCs opening game this Saturday night against Fort Scott, Kan. The Rangerettes will perform at half time with their traditional high kick. This is the 69th Rangerette Line under the direction of Director Dana Blair and Assistant Director Shelley Wayne.

      Pastor Ed Findley of Laird Hill Baptist Church received quite a wake up call Monday evening. It had started to rain as he and his wife Joyce pulled up at the church for an associate meeting. He let her out at the door and Ricky Hammontree handed him an umbrella so he could park the car and get back in the building.

      The staff Parish Relations Committee of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Kilgore announces the appointment of Reverend Darwood K. Galaway effective September 1, 2008. Rev. Galaway comes to St. Luke's from Sunset United Methodist Church in Pasadena, Texas. During his seven year tenure at Sunset United Methodist Church, there has been remarkable growth in many areas.

Downside to the recent rains

      Many yards, gardens, pastures, and hay meadows have made incredible improvements as a result of recent rains in our area. We accumulated as much as nine inches of rain in total in some localities around Rusk county. The milder temperatures have made an enormous difference as well.
