LOCAL SPORTS IN BRIEF VOLLEYBALL Kilgore in tourney today; Sabine Saturday The Kilgore High School varsity volleyball team is playing in a tournament at Tyler Lee High School in Tyler today and on Saturday. Today was pool play for the Lady Bulldogs, who were to face Mabank at 1:45 p.m., T.K. Gorman at 3 p.m., and then Lee at 5:30 p.m. When and whom the Lady 'Dogs face Saturday will depend upon how they do in pool play today. KHS is 3-5 on the season, and hasn't yet played at home. They'll do that on Tuesday, facing Marshall, beginning with freshmen at 5 p.m. The Lady 'Dogs will also be at home next Friday against Hallsville at those same times. Sabine High School also plays this weekend, taking part in a one-day tournament at Gladewater on Saturday. The Lady Cardinals will open the tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday against Rusk, and games thereafter will depend upon that first result. Sabine also hosts Overton on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. FOOTBALL Little-league signup continues Registration for the 2008 Kilgore little league football season will be held tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon in front of the gym entrance at Maude Laird Middle School. Registration cost is $65 for football and $35 for cheerleaders (cash or money orders only). Boys and girls entering third through sixth grades are eligible. Also, the league is looking for coaches and players interested in starting flag football for kindergarten through second grades (boys and girls co-ed).
