If you haven't heard it by now, football season is back, and this weekend kicks off both the Kilgore High School Bulldog season and the Kilgore College Ranger Football season at home. The Bulldogs will be taking on Carthage at R.E. St. Johns Stadium Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and the Rangers will be kicking off their season at 7 p.m. on Saturday also at R.E. St. Johns Stadium. There will be a pep rally at Kilgore High School tomorrow at 2:45 p.m. in the KHS gym. Come out and support both teams as we get the 2008 football season under way.

The Kilgore Fall Film Festival kicks off at the 4 Star Cinema on Oct. 1. Byron Berkley, owner of the theater, said this fall's event marks the 10th anniversary of the film festival. The event began in 1998 under the sponsorship of KTPB, the former Kilgore College Public Radio station. The festival remained an integral part of the KTPB's efforts to bring classical music and fine arts to East Texas until the station was sold and changed formats in 2006. A list of the movies will be published in the Kilgore News Herald prior to the festival starting.
