RANGER FOOTBALL BUDDY DAY
It was another great Buddy Day for Head Coach JJ Eckert and the Kilgore College Ranger Football team. Kds of all ages, shapes and sizes, girls and boys, ate hamburgers and hotdogs, tackled, literally ran over Ranger players, caught passes and ran for touch downs at R.E. St. Johns Stadium Thursday night. I don't know who had more fun, the kids or the players. The Rangers open their home season on Aug. 30 against Fort Scott, Kan. The kickoff will be at 7 p.m.

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?
MASTER GARDENER
Is anyone having trouble with animals in their gardens? I just caught my 6th raccoon today. I say that I am recycling raccoons, because we took 4 of them to the farm. I know they will be happy out there. The other two, I gave to the city. I think I still have an armadillo or a wild hog because so many of my plants have been uprooted and displaced.

Too good to be true?
MINISTER'S MOMENT
We've all heard the statement, "If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is". And most likely, all of us would agree that there's a measure of truth to that statement. But how much truth? Something tells me that too many of us miss out on good things simply because we don't believe or we aren't willing to accept certain things.

A Word Please
I'm brilliant at making predictions. My distinguished body of work includes such forecasts as: Shares of Advanced Cellular Technologies will skyrocket, microwave ovens will be proven to cause cancer, hip hop music is just a passing fad, no woman will ever want to wear thong underwear, and "The Simpsons Movie" will flop and be the death knell of the TV series.

These gals can swing
CHITCHAT CORNER
It was a swinging good time last week at High Maintenance Spalon and Curves as they celebrated their grand openings. Jennifer Brown supplied over 100 gift bags donated by several of her suppliers and Wilma provided a luscious diet dessert and band aids if the swinging got out of hand.
