| File photo by Lester Murray Here at the Kilgore News Herald and in the Liberty City community we are mourning the passing of Jimmy Collins, a World War II veteran and one of the founding members of football at Sabine High School — he was the program's first quarterback. Collins (pictured above, with former Sabine star Josh Herod) was honored last year at homecoming, even with a proclamation of "Jimmy Collins Day" by the school board and the Sabine Athletic Booster Club. Mr. Collins passed away this week; he was 86. Our prayers and well-wishes go out to his family. |
