Too good to be true?

MINISTER'S MOMENT
MIKE WADDLE

We've all heard the statement, "If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is". And most likely, all of us would agree that there's a measure of truth to that statement. But how much truth? Something tells me that too many of us miss out on good things simply because we don't believe or we aren't willing to accept certain things. Listen to these words from the New Testament book of James:

"My dear brothers and sisters, don't be fooled.

Every good present and every perfect gift comes from above, from the Father who made the sun, moon, and stars. The Father doesn't change like the shifting shadows produced by the sun and the moon.

God decided to give us life through the word of truth to make us His most important creatures." James 1:16-18

Let me draw your attention to that word 'every'. This word is a good reminder that God is the source of every good thing. But this word also needs to prompt us to become better receivers. We're not receiving every good thing God desires to give us. We are the most important of all His creation. And because of this, He wants to provide all we need - some of what we want - everything He has to offer! That's the truth. And in all the changes of a changing world, that truth will remain the same!

Last month we celebrated our tenth anniversary at Crosspointe. In recognition of this, the church sent us on a trip. We chose San Diego, and it was a great choice! Perfect climate - perfect beaches - perfect mountain views - perfect recreational opportunities. We enjoyed the goodness of that gift. God desires that every one of us would do the same with His gifts. Get to know Him personally He's made this possible through His Son Jesus. Learn to depend on His provisions you'll soon discover that they're all good. Act as if you're His prized possession because you really are.

This is one thing that is not to good to be true!
