KHS tickets on sale tomorrow

Anyone who didn't have season tickets for Kilgore High School football games last season and would like to purchase them for the upcoming 2008 season can do so Monday by coming by the athletic department office beside the high school.

Season ticket packages are $25, admitting one to all the Ragin' Red's home games at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium, beginning with the season opener on Friday, Aug. 29 against Carthage.

Anyone who needs more information on season tickets can contact athletic department secretary Sharon Breedlove at (903) 988-3920.

The Kilgore News Herald's annual football preview, focusing on KHS, Kilgore College, Overton, Sabine, Leverett's Chapel and West Rusk, will be a part of the News Herald on Thursday, Aug. 28.

GOLF

Chamber tournament is Sept. 16

The annual golf tournament fund-raiser for the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce will be played Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Meadowbrook Country Club here in Kilgore.

All proceeds go to the chamber, to help pay for various chamber activities throughout the year. This is one of the chamber's biggest annual fund-raisers.

The tournament is a six-person scramble format, and individuals will be based on handicap, with a minimum 60 handicap per team. It will be a shotgun start that morning at 8:30 a.m. and an afternoon shotgun start at 1:30. Soft spikes are required to play, and there is an entry fee of $75 per person, which includes green fee and cart, lunch, two mulligans per person, prizes and giveaways, games and contests.

Tee times are reserved on a paid first-come, first-served basis, and tournament officials will make an effort to place teams at preferred tee times, based on availability.

Sponsorships are still available, as well.

• Platinum sponsorships cost $600, and include entry fees for a full team of six, a company sign or banner on the course, and company name on the scoreboard.

• Gold sponsorships are $300 each, and include two player spots, signage and company name on scoreboard.

• Silver sponsorships are $200 and include fee for one player, signage on course and company name on the scoreboard.

• Hole sponsorships cost $100 each, and allows the sponsor to place a sign at the hole and a name on the scoreboard.

SOFTBALL

Midnight Madness tourney Aug. 16

The Midnight Madness softball tournament will be Saturday, Aug. 16 at Hinsley Park in Longview.

Play begins at 7 p.m. that night, and the tournament will go until it's finished. There's an entry fee of $150 per team. Awards will be presented to the top three teams, if there are 12 entries.

There will be a 55-minute-per-game time limit, and teams use their own balls. USSSA rules will apply.
