BIRTHENIA ELAINE DIXON

Funeral services for Birthenia Elaine Dixon, 69, of Kilgore will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Red Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Rockmore officiating and Rev. Ronald Daniels as eulogist. Burial will be in Kilgore Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.

Birthenia was born on June 25, 1939 in Kilgore, to Helen Smith. At the age of two, she was adopted and raised by her great aunt, Maggie Robertson Clayton. Both mothers preceded her in death. Birthenia passed away July 17, 2008.

She most recently became a member at the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Longview.

She graduated from North Chapel High School in Kilgore in 1957 and attended Texas College in Tyler.

She retired from the Los Angeles County Department of Social Services.

She is survived by her husband, Charles K. Dixon of Kilgore and daughter and son-in-law, Helen Michele and Bill Webster of Harbor City, CA; two step-childen, five grandchildren and two great grandchilden and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be Wednesday, July 23, 2008 from noon until 6:30 p.m. at Victory Funeral Services.
