'Jacks tied for second; at home tonight

TEXAS COLLEGIATE LEAGUE BASEBALL

Two late runs by the East Texas Pump Jacks allowed the first-year franchise to beat Coppell, 3-1, on Sunday, and remain in a tie with the Copperheads for second place in the Texas Collegiate League.

The 'Jacks' home stand continues tonight, as they host Brazos Valley both tonight and on Wednesday, both 7:05 p.m. starts. East Texas visits Brazos on Thursday and Friday to complete the four-game home-andhome series.

The 'Jacks are on the road again the rest of the week - they visit Coppell for two games Saturday and Sunday, and won't be home again until next Tuesday, hosting McKinney. East Texas and Coppell are four games behind McKinney, heading into tonight's contest.

Counting tonight, the Pump Jacks have eight home games left in the season.

Sunday's finish was an exciting one for the Pump Jacks (17-19 overall this season, their first-ever). The 'Jacks got an RBI single from Paige Hodges in the bottom of the eighth, then Hodges scored himself to put the Pump Jacks up 3-1.

Kilgore's own Pat McCrory came to the mound in the top of the ninth inning, recording a strikeout to end the game and earn the save. McCrory's ninth was the period to a great sentence of pitching by the Pump Jacks in the game - Justin Murray, Michael LaCourse and McCrory combined to allow just three hits in the contest.

The Sunday win helped ease the pain a bit of Saturday's 5-2 loss to Coppell. In that game, Coppell raced out to a 3-0 lead and held on. Hunter Harris, a University of Texas standout and Gladewater native, took the loss, but gave up just two earned runs in the contest.

Tonight at Driller, fans can enjoy the franchise's Two Dollar Tuesdays, when the team will offer discounts on select meals, food, and drinks, discounting each one to just two dollars. Wednesday night, fans who wear Pump Jacks gear receive half-price grandstand admission.
