'Jacks tied for second; at home tonight
TEXAS COLLEGIATE LEAGUE BASEBALL
      Two late runs by the East Texas Pump Jacks allowed the first-year franchise to beat Coppell, 3-1, on Sunday, and remain in a tie with the Copperheads for second place in the Texas Collegiate League. The 'Jacks' home stand continues tonight, as they host Brazos Valley both tonight and on Wednesday, both 7:05 p.m. starts.

Hamilton, Blalock bomb Sox, Rangers win
MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
      CHICAGO (AP) - A rare day off helped Josh Hamilton recharge himself after a long week. Hamilton homered in his first career at-bat at U.S. Cellular Field, hitting a three-run shot, and Hank Blalock added a two-run homer to power the Texas Rangers to a 6-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday night.

ALL-STAR BASEBALL
      After a great run this summer, the Kilgore Boys Baseball Association's 14- year-old all-star team bowed out on Saturday night in Dayton, losing a pair of games to Paris in the age group's state championship game. That means Paris will represent Texas in the Dixie 14-yearold World Series in Georgia in August.

      KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - There was a time when the Big 12 was known for being topheavy, powerhouses like Oklahoma and Texas playing for national championships and the rest of the conference fighting it out to squeak into some smaller bowl game.
