Pressure's on KBBA 14's; T-ball team finishes run

YOUTH BASEBALL

The 14-year-old Kilgore Boys Baseball Association all-star team had been undefeated in their age division's state tournament in Dayton prior to Tuesday night's game against also-unbeaten Livingston.

Unfortunately, if the KBBA 14's are going to keep their hopes alive to reach the Dixie Youth World Series in Georgia next month, they'll have to come out of the losing bracket to do it.

The 14-year-olds lost to Livingston, 3- 0, on Tuesday night, collecting just a couple of hits in a tough offensive night. The win by Livingston puts Livingston in the tournament's championship round on Thursday. Kilgore faces Crosby at 4:30 p.m. today, and must beat Crosby to get to the championship. If Kilgore gets there, though, the KBBA all-stars will have to beat Livingston twice. Thursday's championship begins at 5:30.

Members of the KBBA 14-year-old allstars are Ryan Dixon, Tevin Alexander, Shawn Williams, Matthew Dickey, Colton Slayter, Kaleb Brisendine, Riley Toler, Mason Nestleroad, Dakota Pierce, Deontre Williams and Jerrick Massenburge. The team is coached by Mark Dickey, Jeff Nestleroad and Marcus Dixon.

The KBBA 13-year-old all-stars are also playing in Dayton, but attempts to contact the team have been unsuccessful.

The 5-6 year-old KBBA tee-ball allstar team, coached by Joey Pippen, Mickie Ray, Dickie McFarland and Kynan Laird, recently finished their summer run. The 5-6-year-old all-stars won their district tournament here, then competed in the state tournament in Carthage.

Kilgore lost to Carthage in the first game on Saturday, beat Corrigan on Sunday, but then was elimiinated with a loss to Hudson on Monday night.

Members of the 5-6 year-old all-star team were Khalon Clayton, Kalen Ray, Jayce McFarland, Davondrick Crowe, Kord Laird, Colin Nichols, Chase Hampton, De'Marco Dudley, Cade Pippen, Trevor Tinney, Donovan Adkins, and Carson Cagle.

Anyone with information on all-star teams still playing is encouraged to call sports editor Mitch Lucas at (903) 984- 2593.
