MLMS students do well in Annual District Science Fair

Tonia Loper said her 8th grade Gifted and Talented Class presented their Science Fair Projects to the students of Kilgore Intermediate School and Maude Laird Middle School yesterday.
Loper said the District Science Fair was held on February 27th in Tyler on the campus of Tyler Junior College.
Nicole Dudley, an eighth grader at MLMS said her project, which was entitled 'Batter Up' was to determine what color ball was easier to hit. "At the conclusion of the experiment it was determined the white ball edged out all of
the other colors," said Nicole.
Loper said Tyler Junior College invites East Texas schools to enter projects in the Annual District Science Fair. All schools are judged separately and the
top five Biology projects and the top five Physical Science projects are
chosen from each school. The Science Fair is designed to teach the
students on the Scientific Method and Problem Solving.
Loper said MLMS students who placed in Physical Science were Nicole Dudley, first place, Gayla Williams, second place, Taylor Ward, third place, Andee Rossum, fourth place and Alyssa Conner finished with a fifth place award.
In the Biology category, Loper said Paige VanMeter received a first place, Ashley Sanders, second place, Hunter Dean, third place, Jonathon Platt, fourth place and K.J. Greene finished with a fifth place showing.
