KILGOROUND
Kilgore's own, Lana Phillips, opens for Robert Earl Keen Saturday night at Canyon Jam '08, hosted by Durango's Canyon - between Henderson and Mt. Enterprise - at the former Rose Amphitheater.
Lana, a 21-year-old singer, songwriter and Kilgore College student, has traveled all over the United States to give thanks to our nation's armed forces, with base performances and appearances at veteran hospitals.
in 2004 Lana awed American Idol judges at an audition in Houston and received the golden ticket to Hollywood. Lana hung in there and was cut with only 73 of 70,000 contestants left in the competition.
Lana is the daughter of Glenn and Debbie Phillips.
Performance times are:
Lana Phillips, 6 p.m.;
Sunny Sweeney - of Longview - 8 p.m.; and
Robert Earl Keen, 10 p.m.
After a long two weeks and a string of defeats, the 11/12 CUBS emerged from their den last night to send the Cardinals back to their nest. Both teams made some good plays and there was no shortage of base stealing, slides, fielding, or hard-hitting action. Great job guys!
