If you like rodeo, especially barrel racing then the Josey Ranch is where you want to be this weekend. The action starts on Friday and goes all the way through Sunday afternoon. Martha Josey is a World Champion Barrel Racer and has been teaching barrel racing to men and women of all ages at the ranch along with her husband, R. E. Josey, World Champion Calf Roper. Riders come from all over the world to compete in the Josey Jr. World competition, competing in to divisions, junior division and senior division. There will be over 400 riders competing this year with some coming all the way from Canada. Kilgore will have at least five girls competing and other riders will be competing from the East Texas area. Rides start at 8 a.m. and go all day, there are special events in the evening hours, a barbecue and auction, church ceremonies at the ranch on Sunday and of course award ceremonies on
Sunday afternoon. This is barrel racing at its finest with riders as young as five years of age competing. The ranch is located at 8623 SH 43 N. in Karnack or call 903-935- 5358 for more information.
