WILMA J. BRYANT

Services for Wilma J. Bryant, 71, of Longview, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at New Hope Baptist Church in Kilgore, with the Rev. K.B. Henry Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Wyche Cemetery of Longview. Arrangements are by Stanmore Funeral Home of Longview.

Mrs. Bryant passed away on Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at Good Shepherd Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 10, 1935, in San Augustine, to the late Green E. Ruth and Mattie B. Clark Ruth. She attended public schools in San Augustine and graduated as valedictorian of her class. She received her B.S. degree in education from Prairie View A&M University and further continued her graduate studies at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Wilma united in holy matrimony to Horace B. Bryant. The couple made their home in Kilgore, where she united with New Hope Baptist Church. With a love for children and strong belief in education, she taught school for 31 years. She taught in Settegast School District in Houston, North Chapel District in Sabine and Longview Independent School District in Longview. Wilma was affiliated with numerous community and church organizations.

Wilma leaves to cherish many wonderful memories her devoted husband, Horace; daughters, Cheryl Diahanne Bryant Morgan and Lauraetta René Bryant Centers; grandson, Adonnis L. Centers; son-in-law, Robert Morgan; mother, Mattie B. Ruth; and siblings, Elmerine, Mary Sally, James, Patricia, Claude and Carolyn. Local relatives include her sister-inlaw, Robin Bryant; nephew, John Bryant; and nieces, Yvette Barnes, Patricia Register and Marsha Mapps, all of Kilgore.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. this evening. Sept. 7, 2007, at Stanmore Funeral Home Chapel.
