Sabine hosts EF tonight in warm-up

A few days after winning the District 15-3A softball championship, the Sabine High School Lady Cardinals will be in action again tonight - but with a lot less pressure.

Sabine (21-10) will host Elysian Fields tonight at 5 p.m., a playoff warm-up for both of those teams.

Sabine clinched the district championship (and the first-round bye in the UIL Class 3A playoffs) by beating Gladewater, 10-0, on Friday night, allowing the Lady Cardinals to finish with an 8-2 record in district play.

Sabine will begin its playoff run in the area round sometime next week against the winner of Mabank and Bullard. Those two 3A teams are scheduled to play a bi-district playoff game on Thursday.

The Lady Cardinals are coached by Sarah Ricks, in her first season.
