Kilgore's Todd gets complete game win for 'Hogs
TODD The highlight reel is growing for Kilgore native Jess Todd, a pitcher at the University of Arkansas.
Todd, who recently helped the Razorbacks get a pair of wins over top-ranked Vanderbilt, pitched his first complete game as a Hog over the weekend, recording a 9-3 win over the University of Georgia on Sunday.
According to hogwired.com, a University of Arkansas athletics site, Todd allowed six hits and struck out seven over nine innings, and got UGA to hit into four double plays. The former Kilgore High School Bulldog has a 5-2 record so far this season.
His previous longest outing (prior to Sunday's nine-inning trip) was the game against Vandy on March 25. He had started against Florida last weekend, and went five innings, striking out 10.
Todd is one of many former Kilgore-area standouts in the college ranks. If you have an update on an athlete from Kilgore you'd like the News Herald to follow, call sports editor Mitch Lucas at (903) 984-2593.
