STUDY OF WOMEN OF THE BIBLE CONTINUES WITH STUDY

CWF, First Christian Church, met Feb. 20 at 6:30 prn in the church's family room. Hostesses were Carroll Bolton, Bea Jones, and Flossie Hankins.. Refreshments were served as members arrived. The serving table was decorated in red and white with a beautiful red floral arrangement in center of table.

Carroll Bolton, co-president, called the meeting to order and led the group in reading the CWF prayer and their favorite Bible verse.

The minutes were read and approved as read. The treasurer, Peggy Bowne, gave the account balances. Ms. Bowne informed the members of the budget and how it needed to be changed in order to meet all the needs that we want to accomplish through the year. She noted that the luncheon for the Judges would be Monday, Mar. 6, and asked for volunteers . A report was made on the Kilgore Church Women's luncheon and the CWF work day.

Ms Bolton asked for new business, and Virginia Wallace reported on the Habitat Women Build quilt squares. For a square a donation of $250 has to be made. Donations between $250 and $500 will have a silver star and donations over $500 will have a gold star. Bea Lawler made a motion to make a donation. Peggy Bowne seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Ms. Wallace read an E-mail from Misty Bushnell titled "Blessing Me". Report of illness was then given. Prayers were requested for the family of Red Burton . It was reported that Ethel Soule was at Kilgore Manor. Members signed a card for Ms. Soule, and it was noted how much she was missed.

Bea Lawler reported that we had Saturday Bread on Mar. 4, and volunteers were requested. Cathy Fothergill reported that Mary Helen Craig had material that she would donate for our bears, lap covers, etc. Geraldine Cox said she would go with Cathy to get the material.

There being no other business the meeting was turned over to Virginia Wallace who gave a very interesting program on "Lydia, Lady in Purple". Lydia was the first Christian convert, first to be a Baptist, and brought the method of secreting fluids from a fish to make the color of purple for dying textiles.

The meeting closed with the CWF Benediction. Carroll Bolton gave the group a thought for the evening. "Don't let your worries get you, just remember that Moses started out as a basket case." Those attending were Carroll Bolton, Peggy Bowne, Geraldine Cox, Cathy Fothergill, Carolyn Gunn, Flossie Hankins, Louise Harrison, Bea Jones, Carolyn Kennedy, Bea Lawler, Joan Still Smith, Virginia Wallace, and Ellen Watson.
