KILGOROUND
BILL WOODALL

YEP, the photo subject at right is wearing a sweater ... just to remind us all that we occasionally have cool weather in January.

+++

ANOTHER weather note: of the cities most likely to be disrupted by a February tornado, Pasadena (TX) is number two on the list and Houston is number six. Most likely? St. Louis, MO.

OF the states most likely to be subject to a February tornado, Texas is the 13th most likely. Most likely? Mississippi.

HOW ’bout that Taco Bueno? Is that a taco-colored paint job or what?

IT almost seemed as if one day there was a burned-put shell, the next there was a concrete slab and the next day there was a building on their lot.

+++

AND is that a new paint job at Cancun Dave’s?

ONE might reasonably believe the town is getting spiffed up.

+++

WE expect you to have fun waving at the new ‘webcam’ Ronnie Spradlin has installed on top of the Schleier & Brown building. But, please, no “mooning.”

BE assured there is a very good chance that someone, somewhere right now is watching you try to squeeze into that parking space in front of the cable company’s office.

+++

MY first webcam experience came several winters ago on one of those days when I was fantasizing about a ski trip and discovered, more or less by accident, that Winter Park, Colorado, had installed cameras at several locations arounds the mountain.

IT’S likely there are still traces of drool on that computer monitor.

NOW, it seems, webcams are everywhere. Parents use them to keep on eye on babysitters and daycare centers have installed them so working parents can watch their children at play/school. Police departments use them to monitor high-crime areas. Shortly after 9/11 the major metro areas installed them faster than country singers shaved their mullets after they saw how Billy Joe Cyrus looked in his.

ON-LINE weather services list an array of webcams just on the off chance you want to see a street scene in State College, Pennsylvania or Madison, Wisconsin.

STILL, as entertaining as it is, we get this George Orwell shiver every time we drive by Kilgore’s webcam.

+++

ODD thought: Can we use some of those sales tax dollars to buy street signs which can be read at night?
