No New Year’s baby, but back to normal...
But, returning to school was a much bigger event for Logan. His mother had to continue to get him out of bed Tuesday morning. “My eyes are working, mom, he said. “But, my legs aren’t.” Doesn’t that seem to be the viewpoint of most of us in regards to this last week? In fact, from the pulpit last Sunday morning, Reverend Buddy Duggins said, “ We have had enough fudge and stuff. It is time we get things back to a normal routine.” I saw Sue Brown on Friday and she immediately asked what the “big news” was for the day. It is unbelievable, Sue. Our ninety-nine cent Whoppers are no longer available anytime we want one. It is now a Wednesday only special. Oh, are we ruined? The lines were unbelievably long Friday as people awaited for the hamburgers to come off the grill. So, I guess that means we don’t mind having to dig a little deeper in our pockets to continue enjoying Whoppers. Also, at the time of this writing, we still do not have a New Year’s baby. Can you believe that? A little late but not forgotten There is an Aunt Polly running around this town that is considered a good Samaritan by one particular family in this town. The family tells us she has been grieving the loss of her husband but made sure their Christmas was extra special this year. The family extends their heart felt thanks to her. Okay, this is Mitch’s thing to do, but I have got to try it one time. What about that football game Wednesday night? You know, the one concerning the Rose Bowl? Ms. Clemmie Richards was so excited about the game she called early the next day to inform me it was not the first time Texas had played in the Rose Bowl. She tells us Kilgore College got to play in the Rose Bowl in 1946 against Compton University, Los Angeles. A train was chartered to carry the Rangerettes, the band, players and other Kilgoreites to Los Angeles. “There was a big parade held in El Paso and it was so-o-o cold,” said Clemmie. “That was before panty hose was invented and the girls had to perform with bare arms and bare legs. Kilgore lost the game, but it was quite an experience,” she said. “The game Wednesday night brought back the memories and I could barely sit on the edge of my chair to watch it.” Last week I wrote about a wedding invitation being returned to Virginia. It was returned to her parents who reside in that state. In actuality, Ben Clark and Hannah Spencer will be getting married on January 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the North Highland’s Bible Church in Dallas. (Sure glad they changed states just for me!) May His Love and Laughter Fill Your Hearts and Your Homes Throughout The Week. I may be reached at 903984-2593 or by e-mail at chitchatlinda@ aol.com. |
