KPD, county bust nets drugs, guns, juvenile Last night at approximately 5:30 p.m. officers of the Gregg County CODE (county drug enforcement) Unit, Longview Police Department S.W.A.T. and Kilgore Police Officers raided a house at 209 Hale St. A member of the CODE unit said the warrant was specifically for methamphetamine. In addition to methamphetamine ice, officers seized crack cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, Xanax, a .22 caliber rifle, a shotgun and a semi-automatic handgun and a stilluncounted amount of cash was also located at the residence. Captain Randy Hancock, Kilgore Police Department, said a 16-year-old was taken into custody and is being held in the Gregg County Juvenile Detention Center pending charges. Det. Kevin Freeman, Kilgore Police Department and a member of the Longview SWAT that conducted the entry, said the juvenile tried to escape through a trap door in the trailer home. Hancock said there were several other people in the house at the time of the warrant execution. “These people were identified and released,” said Hancock. Hancock said this is still an ongoing investigation. Because new laws on over-the-counter sales of certain drugs are making it more difficult for meth makers to get the ingredients they need to make meth, one CODE unit member said, more meth is starting to come in from Mexico. |
