Club Au Courant celebrates “Christmas at the Churchs” Members of Club Au Courant and their guest enjoyed “Christmas at the Churches” traveling to four churches in Kilgore on December 20, where they were entertained with mini concerts. President Pat Sers” welcome was quoted from the Thomas Kincaid book. “According to Thomas Kincaid and Katherine Spencer in “A Christmas Promise,” Christmas continues to be my favorite time of the year. During this joyous season, I love to sit by the fire and reflect on the true meaning of the holiday. Beneath the tinsel and wrapping paper and all the colorful lights, there lies a simple message of God’s love for us all. The true gifts of the season are love and forgiveness and faith---the very gifts God gave us.” Mark Fried, Minister of Music and Youth at forest Home Baptist Church awed the audience with powerful renditions of five Christmas songs, “Come; Let Us Worship the King;” “Joseph’s Song;” “Mary, did you Know;” “O, Come All Ye Faithful, O Come Let Us Adore Him” and “O Holy Night.” The second church visited was Highland Park Baptist. Carl Mohn, Youth Minister welcomed the guest. He introduced E’Beth Chappell who played the piano. They sang harmony filled duets composed of “Silent Night;” “I’m dreaming of a White Christmas;” “O Come all Ye Faithful” and closed with “Let us Worship the King.” The Church of the Nazarene was the third church visited. Pastor Mark Hendricks welcomed the guests. He first delighted the guests with his witty comadaradie. Then, he related the Christmas Story from the book of Matthew. His closing about Jesus of Nazareth explained how his church received its name. The tea was held in the lovely appointed parlor of the First Methodist Church. Charissa York played Christmas music and sang Some Children by Alfred Burt, and I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. Deana Covin, social chairman, coordinated the trek “Christmas at the Churches.” She was assisted by Frances Adams and Yvonne Kennedy at the tea. Guests commented how inspiring each of the concerts were and how this event was one of the best activities in Kilgore during the Christmas season.
