Evergreen Garden Club Travels to Roseville

Evergreen Garden Club held their first meeting of the year at Roseville, "A Texas Bed and Breakfast with a taste of Louisiana", located on Highway 80 about 5 miles west of Marshall.

President Kay McKinley greeted members and welcomed Barbara Johnson, guest of Helen Padgett.

First Vice President Sharon Ragle presented the yearbook celebrating Evergreen's 60th Anniversary. She briefly outlined the programs for the coming year.

Ellen Watson, first President of Evergreen Garden Club will speak on Sixty Years of Evergreen History in October at the home of Sally Beane.

In November the club will travel to Dallas to Jim Bagwell & Associates Christmas Design Center. The annual Christmas Auction will be held at Evelyn Bolding's home in December.

The club will meet at the home of Jo Hancock in January for a program on "Preparing for a Proper Tea" by Patsy Beane Harrison who lived in London for a number of years.

The February program will be "Cut Flowers in the Home Garden" by Denyse Cummins, area horticulturalist for the L.S.U. Agriculture Center. The meeting will be held at the home of Helen Padgett.

March will be a combined meeting of Kilgore Garden Club and Evergreen Garden Club held at the First Christian Church. Nadine Adamson and Virginia Wallace will show designs as related to art. April's program will be held at the Home and Garden Center in Longview with a tour of the nursery and program on spring planting given by Danny Armstrong.

The May luncheon will be held at the lake house of Margaret Martin. New officers for 2007-2008 will be installed.

After a brief business meeting, the group adjourned for a delicious lunch and a program on herbs given by Melvin Mc- Connell.
