TXU receives top honors TXU Mining Power has been awarded the Office of Surface Mining's highest honor for a mining company, the Director's Award, for the company's "commitment to outstanding, innovative reclamation practices at its Oak Hill Mine in East Texas." Oak Hill's "D-1 Mining Area Where Reclamation Meets Innovation" was honored in Washington, D.C., during the National Mining Association's annual meeting. "TXU Mining is very excited to receive a national recognition once again for our reclamation activities," said Gerry Pearson, vice president of mining operations. "Our whole team is committed to environmental quality in all aspects of mining and reclamation. At Oak Hill and our other sites, we are proud to have reclaimed the land to provide long-term benefits for our communities, our local economy and our environment." TXU Mining won the first Director's Award ever presented in 1989 for "Exemplary Commitment to the Environment," and was honored with the award again in 1999. This is TXU Mining's third national award in four years and its ninth overall.
