KHS grad spending semester studying in Australia

SEARCY, ARK - A Harding University sophomore from Kilgore is among university students studying in Australia this semester.

Elizabeth Garza a graduate of Kilgore High School, now a nursing major at Harding, is

spending the fall semester abroad as part of the university's International Program.

Garza and 28 other students will live in Cleveland, Australia, a suburb of the east-coast city of Brisbane. They will learn about Australian culture and study the

country's environment. Trips to Australian cities, like Sydney, are scheduled to provide an overview of the country's history and government system.

"Participation invariably makes for a life-changing experience," Jeffrey T. Hopper, dean

of International Programs said. "Semester after semester our students return seemingly having matured by years. They return with more poise, self-assurance and confidence and with the knowledge that they can make their way in the world."
