United Fund looking for pacesetter

KICKOFF SEASON

Local United Fund officials are prospecting for a "pacesetter" family or individual to jump-start this year's campaign.

Pat McCrory, chairman of this year's fund-raising effort, said yesterday that the first individual or family that contributes to the $65,000 goal will be recognized at the United Fund's kickoff luncheon next Friday.

City National Bank has made the first corporate contribution to the 2006 campaign, McCrory said.

Persons who would like to be the 2006 Pacesetter should contact McCrory at (903)983-3767, extension 15, or Amelia Free at (903) 988-3414.

Kilgore's United Fund is a local effort, independent of the national United Way, and all of its local collections are distributed among about a dozen agencies.

The kickoff luncheon is Friday at Meadowbrook Country Club. Tickets are $15 per person, payable at the door. Reservations should be made by calling Amelia Free.

Deadline for reservations is Wednesday, September 13.

Speaker at the luncheon will be Judie Moffett, president of POWER, Inc. in Longview and a former patient of the East Texas Treatment Center. The treatment Center is a United Fund agency.

Roland Velvin is president of the United Fund this year.
