KEDC to add restrooms at Elder Lake

By BRENDA ALLUMS news1@kilgorenewsherald.com

TCMC Construction of Tyler has 75 days to build the restrooms at Elder Lake Nature Trail in Synergy Park.

Kilgore Economic Development Corporation (KEDC) directors met briefly Monday morning and awarded the bid to the Tyler firm.

The project falls under the contract with the construction manager, Adams Engineering, so no separate contract was needed for the work.

TCMC submitted a low bid of $122,531 plus $1,100 for electrical work. The only other bid came from A.R. Lay for $124,805 plus $1,375 for electrical work. A.R. Lay also requested more construction time.

Amanda Nobles, KEDC executive director, said the project falls within the $750,000 for the total park amenities project, and the bids for this project were in line with others of this nature.

"Mike Green with the city said the quotes were close to those received for the restrooms at Harris Street Park," Nobles said.

Green is director of community services for the city of Kilgore and oversees park operations and construction.

"We (the KEDC board) discussed the bids and gave Adams the okay to proceed," Nobles said.
