FLORINE PETERSEN

Florine Petersen, of Tyler, passed away June 5, 2006, in Tyler on her 90th birthday.

She was born June 5, 1916, in Breckenridge to O.R. Cooper and Carrie Power. Florine lived in West Texas before moving to Tyler in 1932.

Ms. Petersen was a graduate of Tyler High School then attended U.T. She was a substitute teacher in Kilgore during WWII and was responsible for bringing duplicate bridge to Tyler. She became a Life Master in 1960. Florine was also the past president of the E. T. Golf Association.

Ms. Petersen was preceded in death by her parents and brother, O.R. "Dick" Cooper.

Florine is survived by her loving family including her son, Max Herring and wife Margaret of Tyler; daughter, Ann Duncan of Tyler; one grandson; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday, June 8 2006, at Stewart Family Funeral Home 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas 75703.

Private services for Florine Petersen will be held by the family at a later date.
